minimal maldives

Maldives Chalets is a design proposal for an avant gard concept, the first option was for a more minimal, and purist solution but principally a box unit with views looking straight out of the bedroom, with all clear glazing and open top window. With this we hope to see no more Balinese or Oriental Charm attractions overwhelming the hospitality market, so saturated with 'as expected' directions.

Chalet prototypes have been studied and researched to finally allow us to let go of the Balinese mainstream aesthetics when we approach an hotel design such as this. The idea was simply to use the lagoon as part of the interior experience, with very open views to the surrounding low density development, making this conceptually powerful, proving it to be a totally honest and straightforward chalet design, and underlining a completely refreshing intent. The product is most challenging as it raises issues of typology and user experience.
